Will You Be My Bridesmaid?
In today’s age of social media, proposals are being shared every day on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram…the pressure is on to come up with unique and fun ways to pop the question. No longer limited to just the couple getting engaged, brides are even getting in on the action when choosing their bridal party. Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing to inspire some festive proposals for the ladies closest in your life:
Bridesmaid Boxes
Trending now are these personalized bridesmaid’s boxes of goodies. A fun weekend DIY project, most of the supplies can be found at your local craft store and you can fill them with whatever seems most appropriate for your girls. Jewelry, nail polish, mini champagne (or the alcohol of choice) bottles, candy, duties of the bridesmaids (be nice…don’t be a bridezilla right off the bat 🙂 )…the possibilities are endless when it comes to filling these boxes. A nice thing to keep in mind if you are having a large bridal party who may not know each other very well, would be to include the phone numbers and e-mail addresses of all in the bridal party so everyone can plan together and be on the same page.
A Surprise Party
During the engagement process it can be easy to get swept up in all the attention that is inevitably on you, the bride. You’ll have engagement parties, bridal showers, personal showers, bachelorette parties, fittings, tastings, and appointments up the wazoo for a bit…don’t forget the people backing you and supporting you and making sure they feel special. Maybe a nice way to kick off the planning process is to gather your friends together and have a surprise party for them as a way to pop the question. A brunch theme can work really well for this or an intimate dinner party. Your bridal party will be sure to feel the love and look forward to starting the planning process with you.
Personalized Wine/Champagne Labels
How many times have you and your BFF commiserated break-ups, new jobs, new loves, and just plain gossiped over a bottle of bubbly? Why not buy her favorite vintage, brew, or other imbibement and slap a personalized label on there asking her to be your maid of honor? (or bridesmaid, matron of honor, whatever the case may be) Eventually the drink will be drunk, but chances are she will keep the bottle forever to remember the unique way you chose to include her in the big day.
Snail Mail
I’m willing to bet we all get a little excited when we see a colorful envelope or handwritten letter in the mail and not just another credit card statement. In today’s world of text messages, tweets, messenger, e-mail, sometimes it’s nice to send something the old-fashioned way and eagerly await the response. Whether you go the heartfelt letter route, the witty greeting card, or a combination of both, I bet it’s safe to say your BFFs will get a kick out of getting a surprise in their mailbox. Note* for an even bigger surprise, fill the card with glitter or confetti! If only you could get a picture of the look on their face when they open the card! 🙂
Your bridal party will do so much for you and with you in the months leading up to your nuptials. Even though your mind will be filled with a thousand things at any given point in time, don’t forget to thank your friends and family always for all the help they provide. You really couldn’t plan your whole day without them and so don’t forget to make them feel special too.
