Taylor Swift Songs for Your Wedding

Posted on

For those of you who may not know, Shadowland’s event manager is a MAJOR Taylor Swift fan. And in honor of her birthday today (and the fact that 2018 Reputation Tour tickets are secured), we’ve compiled the top 10 Taylor Swift wedding songs. No, she’s not just all break ups and heartache…T Swift can set the tone for the romantic, whimsical, fun night you’ve been dreaming about. From cocktail hour to the last song of the night, Taylor Swift’s anthology should not be overlooked when crafting that perfect play list.

Cocktail Hour/Dinner Music

1. Love Story

Oh Love Story…the imagery of Romeo and Juliet actually working out was a song we all belted out in high school. For a grown up version, we suggest snagging the instrumental version and featuring it during cocktail hour.

2. Ours

“This love is Ours…” What a sweet message for your big day. A song celebrating the difficulties of a relationship that ultimately comes out triumphant. Having someone sing it softly acoustically or the instrumental would be a great addition to cocktail hour or dinner music.

3. Today was a Fairytale

Every wedding day is a fairytale for the couple and their family. This is the last one we suggest the instrumental version for the cocktail hour or dinner music.

4. Crazier

One of her lesser-known songs, Crazier is swoon worthy for that first dance moment. Take these lyrics,

“You lift my feet off the ground
You spin me around
You make me crazier crazier
Feels like I’m falling and I’m lost in your eyes
You make me crazier,crazier,crazier…”

With the right beat for a slow dance this song has all the emotions for your first dance

5. You are in Love

From her 1989 album, this song isn’t the typical beat for the first dance, but the lyrics are on point.

“You kissed on sidewalks
You fight and you talk
One night he wakes, strange look on his face
Pauses, then says, you’re my best friend
And you knew what it was, he is in love”

And isn’t that the goal? To be marrying your best friend?

6. New Year’s Day

Off her brand new album Reputation, New Year’s Day has a message of “through thick and thin I will be there.” New Year’s brings a time for fresh starts. What a great message to tell your person that you want to have your New Year, your fresh start, include them.

“You squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi
I can tell that it’s gonna be a long road
I’ll be there if you’re the toast of the town, babe
Or if you strike out and you’re crawling home

Don’t read the last page
But I stay when it’s hard, or it’s wrong
Or we’re making mistakes
I want your midnights
But I’ll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year’s Day”

7. The Best Day

This is the song I always said I would play for my dad and me during our Father-Daughter dance. Even though Taylor did technically write it for her mom, it could be applied for either parent and there won’t be a dry eye in the room for those listening to the lyrics.

“I don’t know why all the trees change in the fall
But I know you’re not scared of anything at all
Don’t know if Snow White’s house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today”

8. Shake it Off

Who hasn’t done a dance to this song getting ready in the morning? This song is proven even to get the most stubborn of wallflowers on

the dance floor.

9. 22

I think 22 has been my favorite age so far and to have the chance to dance with all my girls to this song would be so fun to me. Just a happy, peppy song to dance the night away!

10. New Romantics

Another bonus song off her 1989 album, “New Romantics” is an experimental pop song with a great beat to tear up the dance floor.
