Shaken, Stirred, The Choice is Yours!

In the world of cocktails there is an endless variety of news liqueurs, mixers, and ideas that create new potions of deliciousness. It’s not just standard faire gin and tonics or margaritas on the rocks with salt anymore.  Nowadays there are vodkas infused with flavors like bacon, grass, fruit loops, and so many more. The sky’s the limit for what recipes people are coming up with to tantalize the taste buds. In the wedding world, signature cocktails are quickly gaining popularity and a super easy and fun way for couples to add their own personal stamp on cocktail hour. Cheyenne and I love, love, love anything food and beverage related and getting creative with cocktail options. Here are some of our favorite signature cocktails we’ve seen so far…but keep the creative juices flowing! We are constantly looking for new ideas and inspirations!

Blueberry Vodka Lemonade

Garnished with either a lemon or a blueberry, this cocktail is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. A real crowd pleaser, watch out for these, they can creep up on ya.

Watermelon Margarita

Debuting at our 2015 Mock Wedding, this cocktail quickly became a favorite for our summer couples. After a couple of these, you and your guests will be ready to hit the dance floor!

Spiked Apple Cider

Apple cider with a punch is the perfect refresher for an autumn day. Serve it warm or keep it cool, your guests will “fall” in love with this drink.

Anything Sangria

Sangrias

Oh sangria, the soup of the cocktail world. Add in a little of this and a little of that and this punch will taste delicious every single time. Sangria is great for all the seasons and the flavor profiles are endless. We love white peach and red berry, but we’ve made apple sangrias, cherry, cranberry, pomegranate…there’s options galore!

Adding Savory Flavors

Cucumber Gimlet

A couple times this season, couples have opted for a different twist on their signature drinks by adding in some ingredients you may not automatically think of when you think of the cocktail world. Gin is actually a really nice liquor to incorporate into some savory cocktails. We’ve had cucumber gin smashes (cucumber puree, gin, St. Germaine’s elderflower liqueur) and one bride’s sister came up with a recipe using gin, pear, lemon and rosemary that was a really yummy combination. Don’t be afraid to mix things up and take a chance on using new flavors.

Signature cocktails are one of the easiest trends to incorporate in your wedding. Have fun with it! Feel free to use the ideas above or come up with your own. Also, if your favorite thing to sip on is a Moscow mule or Jack and Coke, those can be signature cocktails too! Those tried and true favorites can become “signaturized” by renaming them for the evening…Jack and Coke can be a Nick and Coke; a Moscow Mule can be a Molly Mule for the night, or any other name that fits the overall theme of your wedding.  There are tons of ways to get out of the box when it comes to your bar.
