together with cool skyKyle Decker and Erica (Weidner) Decker wed Sunday May 24, 2015 at Dunes Pavilion on Silver Beach with reception at Shadowland Ballroom. Their story all started on a wintery December night in Angola, IN; where they happened to meet when they were out with mutual friends listening to live music. After talking and dancing a bit, they decided to stay in touch. As multiple days passed, talking, texting, and chatting on Facebook were frequent, but it was a little over a month before they were able to have our first date. The rest as they say is history.

After 5 years together, between moving twice, traveling on many vacations, forming a bond over music and sports, Kyle popped the question- Erica said, “Yes!” and it was time to plan a wedding! Their families were mostly in Ohio and Indiana and the lovebirds were in Missouri, so to fulfill the dream of being married on the beach, a destination wedding was needed. After lots and lots of research and deciding keeping it close to “home” was more meaningful and gave the families the ability to be present, finding a beach to meet all those requirements was key. Silver Beach was where Erica traveled with her mom in the summer from her teens into her early 20s. After another idea fell through, they found an open weekend at Shadowland, their dream location, and booked for the holiday weekend.ceremony pavilion

Erica and Kyle both enjoyed the ease of having the bar, caterer, and coordinators all packaged into one venue and not have to track down more vendors. Mock wedding helped to solidify their ideas and menu. Erica went simple with the décor and did as much DIY as possible.Centerpiece They wanted a beach theme with light blue and coral colors and Pinterest was a huge help in finding the color scheme Erica loved.

For the centerpieces, Erica found the bowls at Hobby Lobby and online shopping was a lifesaver for all of the smaller pieces that tied the whole theme together.

Kyle and Erica opted to have a “first look” in the ballroom before the ceremony and enjoy some time together before the flurry of activity of events to come.

At night after the crowds went away, Kyle and Erica were able to enjoy the Whirlpool Compass Fountain for more pictures. From the viewpoint of working at Shadowland, their day was absolutely beautiful and both Kyle and Erica worked so hard in planning and having all the details come together. We at Shadowland feel so honored to have been part of their day and want to wish them all the love and happiness in the world! running fountain
