Top Five: Fall 2014

Posted on

The fall wedding season is being pushed aside by the upcoming winter weather, but that doesn’t mean our fall weddings were anything to scoff about! From embracing the cooling temperatures to warming the Ballroom with autumn’s colors, Shadowland was blessed with new ideas and inspiration. Here are our top five favorite concepts that took place in the Ballroom this past season:

1. Indoor Ceremonies

Shadowland’s Sunset Room offers a beautiful backdrop for a wedding ceremony. With the temperature dropping and chances of rain increasing, couples took to the Ballroom for their entire wedding celebration. Cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvre are usually served in the Boardwalk as guests socialize or take a Carousel ride as the Ballroom shifts from ceremony to reception.

2. Seasonal Detailing

Though many couples stick to traditional decorating, some Shadowland brides and grooms chose to use seasonal details. One of our favorite details was using pumpkins as table numbers — cute, simple, and a hit among guests!

3. Wining & Dining

Whether it was cork-designed monograms or sparkling wine bottles, the use of wine was very dominant this season. As Shadowland is centered among the Lake Michigan Wine Trail, it was great fun to see local wineries not only behind the bar but also in the decor!

4. Handmade Love

Unique and adorable, a Shadowland bride made this burlap-like cake table cover all by herself. If that’s not inspiration, we don’t know what is!

5. Cake Toppers for the Win

Possibly the most darling cake topper to grace the Ballroom, these little pumpkins were the talk of our 2014 Shadowland Halloween wedding. The L-O-V-E pennant banner and leaf confetti only enhanced the cake cutting ceremony for this couple.
